How long is the Odoo free trial?
The trial you request on this page runs for 15 days. If you need more time to work through your business processes properly, ask us before it ends and we can extend it.
You can also start an Odoo trial on your own at odoo.com, which promises free instant access with no credit card required. Starting it through WAO gives you three benefits the self-serve route does not:
- An Australian partner on hand. Our team answers your questions by email and live chat during the trial, with straight advice on what the Odoo system can do for your business and what it can't.
- More time if you need it. Fifteen days goes quickly when the people testing also manage the business. Ask and we can extend the trial.
- Help choosing a plan. If you decide to go ahead, we help you work out the best pricing option and activate a subscription from your trial, so you keep the data you entered.
The trial is for businesses based in Australia or New Zealand. It is a self-guided evaluation: under the fair use agreement on the request form, we answer questions and help you understand how Odoo works, but the trial does not include training, live calls or implementation support.
WAO Group is the Winner, Odoo Customer Choice Award (ANZ) 2026, with 11 certified Odoo experts, 66 client references and 95%+ client satisfaction (Odoo partner directory).
What you can explore
What does the Odoo Enterprise trial include?
The Odoo Enterprise trial is a working database on Odoo Online, Odoo's own cloud hosting. You choose the Odoo apps and features you want to explore and can add more as you go. The apps worth looking at depend on your business needs, but most Australian businesses start with some of these:
- Finance: Accounting, Invoicing, Expenses
- Sales: CRM, Sales, Point of Sale, eCommerce, Website
- Supply chain: Inventory, Purchase, Manufacturing
- Services: Project management, Timesheets, Helpdesk
- People: Employees, Payroll, Time Off
Odoo's latest version is 19. Your trial runs on Odoo Online, so check Settings to confirm the version you are testing.
An all in one platform: from point of sale to the ledger
The Odoo platform is one database behind every app. A sale in CRM, on your website or at the point of sale flows through to inventory, the invoice and the general ledger without re-keying. That is the benefit. The trap is that with every app on offer, it is easy to spend 15 days clicking through features instead of testing whether Odoo fits the way you actually work. Explore Odoo around your real processes and discover the rest later.
Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and Odoo Community
Trials run on Odoo Online. Odoo.sh is Odoo's hosting platform for businesses that need custom code or third-party modules, and it is available on Odoo's Custom plan. Odoo Community is the free, open-source core that Odoo Enterprise is built on; Enterprise adds hosting, functional support and version upgrades. You don't need to settle any of this during a trial, but if you already know you need custom development, tell us, because it changes what you should test.
Make the days count
What should you test in a 15-day trial of Odoo apps?
A trial gives a clear answer when you treat it as a test with a pass mark, not a tour of features. Before day one, write down the three processes that make or lose you money, for example quote to cash, purchase to pay and month-end close, and run them with real data: a real customer, five real products, a real supplier bill. As an accounting-led partner, this is the checklist we would work through first.
- Company and chart of accounts. Enter your ABN and GST registration, then confirm the Australian chart of accounts and GST taxes are loaded. Map a handful of your current accounts to see whether your reporting structure carries over.
- GST on your real transaction types. The standard GST rate is 10%, but Odoo's Australian localisation carries several GST variants for different supplies. Enter taxable, GST-free and any input-taxed or import transactions you make, and check the tax on each invoice and bill, including mixed invoices.
- The BAS report. Odoo's Australian localisation includes a BAS report, opened from the Accounting dashboard, covering GST and PAYG withholding. After a few weeks of sample transactions, run it and check the figures agree with what your transactions should produce. Ask your bookkeeper or accountant to look at it with you.
- Bank reconciliation. Import a recent bank statement and reconcile it against your sample invoices and bills. This is where Odoo saves the most time day to day. Think carefully before connecting a live bank feed to a trial database you may not keep. If you pay suppliers in bulk, look at ABA payment files too.
- Payroll, with a caveat. If you employ staff, try two or three sample employees on your real award or agreement conditions. Odoo's documentation states that its Australian payroll is compliant with STP Phase 2 and SuperStream, though a few scenarios, such as foreign employment income and WPN-based withholding, should still be checked with Odoo. Do not lodge anything from a trial database, and read our Odoo payroll page before relying on it.
- Your weekly reports. Build the two or three reports you look at every week and see whether Odoo produces them without a spreadsheet.
- The systems around you. List what connects to your current software, such as your eCommerce store, payment gateway or warehouse, and check how Odoo integrates with each: a standard app, a connector or custom development.
Score each process as works as is, works with configuration or needs development. Import a small sample of data only, say 20 customers and 20 products; a full migration is a project in itself. And invite the people who will use the system to run their part. A trial tested only by the owner answers the wrong question.
What happens next
What happens when the Odoo trial ends?
You can subscribe from your trial database at any time and keep access to what you entered. We help you pick the plan and activate the subscription. If you don't subscribe, the trial database is closed at the end of the trial, so if you discover a process you haven't tested yet, ask us for an extension before the last day rather than deciding on a guess.
Odoo sells three plans:
- One App Free: one app, unlimited users.
- Standard: all apps, on Odoo Online.
- Custom: all apps plus Odoo Studio, multi-company and the external API, on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or on-premise.
Paid plans are priced per user per month, with a first-year discount for initial users. Odoo changes its prices from time to time, so check odoo.com/pricing for current figures. The licence is only part of the cost of Odoo: our Odoo pricing guide for Australia covers implementation, hosting and support too.
Choose your route
Should you trial Odoo alone or with a partner?
Either can work. It depends on what you need the trial to answer.
- Trial on your own if you want to explore Odoo apps and features at your own pace, your business needs are fairly standard, and someone on your team can spend an hour or two a day in the system.
- Trial through WAO if you want the same hands-on access with an Australian partner answering questions by email and chat, a view from people who look at the accounting first, and the option of more time.
- Talk to us before you trial if you are replacing an existing ERP, run several entities, have complex payroll or inventory, or need a realistic view of what implementing Odoo costs and how long it takes. A 30-minute fit call is an honest conversation about whether Odoo fits, including when you are better off staying where you are.
A trial database is close to out of the box. Something that feels clumsy on day three may be a setting, not a limit, so ask us before you rule it out.
Straight talk
When is a trial not enough?
A trial shows you what Odoo's features do. It cannot show you what your business will look like once Odoo has been configured properly for it. A trial is probably not enough on its own when:
- your processes need configuration or development before they can be tested fairly;
- you are moving several entities, a lot of history or a complex inventory setup;
- payroll is in scope and your award conditions are complex;
- the decision needs a scope and a cost the board or your accountant can check.
In those cases, there are better next steps:
- Odoo Fit Assessment: seven questions, about two minutes, and an honest view from a solution architect on whether Odoo suits your business.
- Odoo Success Blueprint: a fixed-price validation of four to six weeks that delivers a hands-on proof of concept and a costed implementation plan, so you decide on evidence, not a demo.
- Odoo implementation: how we deliver Odoo for Australian businesses. Implementation is billed on time, and scoped before it starts.
