Optimizing Global Operations with a Unified ERP System

The Client

The Kelton Group is a privately owned investment group with a 52-year history of successful investments in Real Estate and multi-sector Public and Private Equity across the South Pacific, Asia, and North America.

Their portfolio includes a wide range of operations in rental properties, affordable housing, tourism, commercial agriculture, and aquaculture. With numerous business entities and a focus on investments with a positive social, political, and environmental impact, the group faced the significant challenge of managing fragmented data and business processes using a mix of accounting systems and manual workflows.

This decentralized approach created operational inefficiencies, limited visibility, and posed a hurdle to their long-term growth.

The Challenge

The project's primary goal was to transition the Kelton Group's various entities to a single, scalable, and integrated ERP system. This was a complex and multi-faceted challenge that required careful planning and execution. A key difficulty was the sheer scale of the project, which involved consolidating data for multiple companies, each with its own specific business processes and reporting needs.

A significant hurdle was the data conversion process. While several entities were on Xero, others had no established digital accounting system, necessitating a dual approach to data migration. Furthermore, the implementation needed to cater to distinct business processes for each entity, from real estate to hospitality, requiring a high degree of customization and detailed system configuration.

The Solution

WAO Group was engaged to lead this comprehensive ERP implementation. Our approach was centered on a detailed Solution Finder project, meticulously outlined in the business blueprint. We worked closely with the Kelton Group's key stakeholders to analyze their existing processes and define a clear roadmap for the Odoo implementation.

Our team of expert functional consultants and accountants meticulously managed the project, focusing on several key areas:

  • Data Conversion:
We streamlined the process of converting data from Xero for the relevant entities, ensuring a smooth and accurate transfer of historical financial information. For companies with no prior digital system, we performed a thorough master data import to establish a clean and robust foundation.

  • Tailored System Configuration:
Beyond a standard setup, we configured Odoo to meet the specific, often unique, business processes of each of the Kelton Group's entities. This included setting up specific accounting, inventory, and sales modules to reflect their diverse operations.

  • Comprehensive Training:
We provided a mix of on-demand and customized live training sessions. This ensured that the Kelton Group's team was not only comfortable with the new system but also empowered to maximize its potential. The focus was on equipping them with the necessary skills for a successful and confident transition.

  • Ongoing Support:
Recognizing that a successful go-live is just the beginning, we provided a dedicated support package to address any post-implementation queries and ensure a seamless operational flow.

The Outcome

The partnership with WAO Group resulted in a successful and unified Odoo ERP implementation for the Kelton Group. By centralizing their operations, the group has gained a single source of truth for its financial data, leading to improved accuracy and enhanced reporting capabilities.

The project successfully navigated the challenges of a multi-entity, multi-geography implementation, proving the effectiveness of a structured and customized approach. The Kelton Group is now positioned with a robust and scalable business solution that supports its continued growth and operational efficiency across all its entities and territories.

This case study is a testament to WAO Group's ability to deliver tailored Odoo solutions, manage complex data migration, and provide exceptional client support, helping businesses like the Kelton Group achieve their digital transformation goals.
